More about Anthologically Speaking:

Anthologically Speaking is an artistic anthology meant to float on coffee tables, live on shelves within social settings and seep into the libraries of readers and listeners alike in their appreciation of penetrative compositions. This piece of literature is best described as a themed book of powerful artwork. The primary artist is a poet who regards each of her pages as a canvas with which she colorfully paints her words—illustrating heightened feelings, shared attitudes and vivid thoughts. With a belief that we are unique in experience but not in emotions nor thoughts, M. Eaux shares perspective on what she has processed firsthand, secondhand and in fantasy, yet in such a way that there is no difference between the three.

This book summons deep emotions and prompts readers to sit with it regardless of it being personal or the feelings of another. Nearly every piece is complemented by visual art commissioned with creative freedom; in most cases only the poem is given as inspiration for each artist’s visual contribution. Upwards of 60 “wildly eloquent” poems are arranged into six chapters as the collection features poetry written over the course of two decades. The selections include free verse, narrative, dramatic, lyrical (mostly ballads) and new attempts of traditional poetry forms.

More about M. Eaux:

M. Eaux’s appreciation for poetry traces back to Dr. Seuss and Shel Silverstein. Their work inspired her aim to express herself in similar, artistic fashion. Native to South Florida, and as a first generation Haitian-American, she grew up in a multilingual household. She sensed enchantment through creative expression and how it effortlessly gripped her attention and imagination. As a result, she paid close attention to speech, rhymes, figurative language, literary devices, homonyms and near rhymes. Her first poem was written as a class assignment in middle school, but she truly decided to nurture this interest in high school. By her senior year, she was aware of her talent and intrinsic gift of ‘painting with words.’ She first shared her writing and poetry in her high school’s newspaper and then sporadically with friends. Her budding skill sharpened while she earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Mass Communication with a concentration in Public Relations. Withholding from public readings until her mid twenties, she participated in Human Experience Open Mic a few times in Downtown Las Vegas while honing in on her craft. Although she enjoyed sharing a handful of her pieces, she preferred all focus to remain on the art and less the artist.
